Victoria University College. Capping Carnival "G.G.". A Musical Extravaganza. [1929]

Act 1 Conspirators' Song

Act 1 Conspirators' Song.

When the sun arises and the rooks begin to caw,
Primed with ultra-vi-o-let we desecrate the law.
Councillors and constables, we give 'em look for look,
What a cheerful calling is the calling of a crook!

Chorus
The sunnier the weather, the weather, the weather,
The sunnier the weather, the braver we shall be.
Our murd'rous employment,
We ply with enjoyment.
The sunnier the weather, the braver we shall be.

But when the eery shades of night envelop all the trees,
Simple words cannot describe the knocking of our knees!
In every gloomy corner we bestow a furtive look.
What a trying calling is the calling of a crook!

Chorus
The more we are together, together, together,
The more we are together, the braver we shall be!
When darkness is crawling,
With terrors appalling,
The more we are together, the braver we shall be!
