Tuatara aims to stimulate and widen interest in the natural sciences in New Zealand, by publishing articles which (a), review recent advances of broad interest; or (b), give clear, illustrated, and readily understood keys to the identification of New Zealand plants and animals; or (c), relate New Zealand biological problems to a broader Pacific or Southern Hemisphere context.
