Bad Dream
Bad Dream
Everyone's sleeping in a couple of bunk rooms. At four or five in the morning, Riki stirs and cries out.
‘I'm so thirsty,’ he moans, mostly asleep. Emma, mostly asleep herself, gets up and brings him what she believes, in the shadows of the kitchen, to be a cup of orange juice. ‘Errghh,’ says Riki, and splutters: it is, in fact, cold tea. Emma, repeating this story, laughs and laughs and laughs: she sees it as a story against herself, and seems to miss what's really telling about it.
If in the dead of the night one of the group is thirsty, Emma will rouse herself and go and find him something to drink.
