Pattern only partly chiseled.) — This is a cast from the living face of Tapue Te Whanoa, a leading chief of Ngati Whakaue, Arawa tribe, Rotorua. It was done for Sir George Grey when at Rotorua in 1854. Sir George however had left N.Z. for England, 31.12.1853, did not return until 1861. 1853 is perhaps the correct year
