On 11th September last the new Social Hall at Hillside Workshops, beautifully decorated with greenery and streamers, interwoven with coloured festoons, presented a most pleasing scene—the occasion being the first annual ball held by the Workshops,” Staff. The function, which was marked by a spirit of intense joyousness throughout, was organised by the Committee of the Workshops’ Concert Orchestra, assisted by Mr. S. B. Barltrop (as Secretary) and members of the Refreshment Branch, who splendidly managed the catering arrangements. It was one of the most successful functions ever held in the new Social Hall.
