Donne knew that the acclimatisation of great angling fish would draw sportsmen from all over the world, tempted by the teeming waters of New Zealand, but he could never for one instant have dreamed that in the future busloads of tourists would arrive merely to look at the fish, admiring their steel-like beauty in manicured natural surroundings.
