Conrad Bollinger
Conrad bollinger, fourth year Arts student (finishing year) with the odd law unit. Consistently active in the Tramping Club; "Salient" staff since 1947, assistant Editor 1949-50; committee of Socialist Club 1948-49, which he represented at N.Z. Student Labour Federation conferences for three years; Secretary of N.Z.S.L.F. 1950; helped frame S.L.F. Bursary Scheme adopted by VUC and N.Z.U.S.A. 1948; Convenor of present N.Z.U.S.A.-S.L.F. Bursaries Committee; Debating Society Committee 1950; official V.U.C.SA. Observer at N.Z.U.S.A. Annual Conference 1950; VUC Drama team, Winter Tournament 1948; acted in Extravs 1948-49, being co-author of the Jubilee Show; attended N.Z.U.S.A. Congresses 1949-50.
For more adequate university facilities (library, staffing, bursaries, etc.) and more responsible student participation in College management to this end; for increased student international co-operation and relief.

Paul Cotton
Paul cotton is a third year student, advancing History and Political Science. Paul has always taken a keen interest in all phases of Student Association life. At present a member of Drama Club, Tramping Club and Secretary of the Charter Society. Represented Victoria in Rowing at Easter and plays Hockey for winter relaxation. Attended last Congress at Curious Cove. Paul wants to see plans for the New Student Union Building under way; a new deal in the Cafeteria; the Common Common Room and a plan to foster real student life; Congress as the meeting ground to discuss inter-Varsity and New Zealand affairs. Paul is a first-class worker and should be a real asset on the Exec.

Doug. Foy
In
completing BA this year part Time; is also doing LLB spasmodically. He came to VUC in 1949 after being at AUC for three years. While there he was Treasurer of the Social Committee, Men's House Committee, 1948, Secretary-Treasurer of the Labour Club, 1947-48, Committee Debating Club 1947-48. Attended Congress in 1949, has been on Salient and in Extrav since: active in Socialist Club and Debating. Doug stands for:1. | Sound administration of student affairs. |
2. | approach through NZUSA for rationalisation of, and increase in Bursaries. |

He has proven himself in administration, and we believe would prove an acquisition to the Exec.
Dave Horsley
A third year Arts and Law student and Weir House man, Dave Horsley has already an excellent record in student affairs which should recommend him strongly to the voters. He has been a member of the Committee of the French Club, Literary Society and Rowing Club. As a rower he was also, VUC Junior Delegate. He is Senior Delegate to Winter Tournament and has the full confidence of the Exec. He has no political log to roll and wourd prefer to be judged on the strength of his past work for the Stud. Ass. I hope his entire suitability will be as obvious to the electorate as it is to his proposers.

Pete Jenkins
Is aged 24, arrived VUC 1943 and lived in Weir House for 4 years. Arts Course till 1946, then Science full-time and graduated B. Sc. 1948. Is now taking M.Sc. (zoology)
He was committee member of the Tramping Club 1949 Secretary Biology Society, and Editor of "Salient" 1946. He was fined £5 by the Professorial Board for publishing certain articles as Editor, but this was later remitted on appeal to the College Council. (He subsequently proposed the toast to the Prof. Board at last Undergrad. Supper.) He has also been Distribution Manager for "Cappicade" for several years and has continually been in Extrav. since 1943.

Hec. McNeill
Hec. macneill is a 6th year graduate in Arts and is at present doing honours. He has been a part time student for the past four years and has taken part in many student activities. He has been an active member of the chess, drama and hockey clubs as well as being secretary-treasurer of the Historical Society in 1948. At the training college he was on the staff of Student Opinion and is this year on "Salient" staff. He has always associated himself with activities to improve amenities for part time students. In particular he stresses the importance of a Medical Scheme and improvement of the cafeteria.

Burton Newenham
Burton is a full-time Rehab, bursar, finishing his B.A. degree. He is a prominent member of the Debating Society, as active in the Hockey Club, and is on the committee of the Charter Society. With a background of military service. Burton has had several years teaching experience, and he believes that there is room for improvement in the conduct of the Students' Association Affairs. Although vigorously opposed to active political bias in College affairs, he respects the opinion of others at all times. He is particularly interested in finding some way to ensure more active interest and participation in the Association activities by the student body. He is also determined to work for a better cafeteria.

Brian Perry
A full time Science student whose interests are focussed on full time administration by younger students. He is vitally concerned with their problems and sees no better answer than to have a younger student on the Exec. A second year student Brian has already won many laurels in the application of his abilities. Secretary of the Miniature Rifle for two years, he has obtained both N.Z.U. and V.U.C. blues for this sport. The Defence Rifles. Club has him as a member of the committee and he holds an N.Z.U. blue for this also. He has made his mark in college hockey, and was a Tournament rep. last year. Brian is an extremely able candidate, and is the younger students wiset choice.

Frank Rigg
Frank is a full-time Arts and Music student in his sixth year. He has helped in the cafe regularly for two years and has a first hand knowledge of problems and difficulties involved in its management He will do his utmost to ensure that the students and the cafe staff get a fair deal. He is a member of the S.C.M. and a former secretary of the Glee Club. He believes College musical activities should be given greater support. He supports the proposed medical scheme but believes that it should be accompanied by a vigorous health education campaign. He thinks also that the University should try to establish closer relation with community.

Mike Martin Smith
Is
a full time Chemistry Honours student who, besides holding the academic qualification of the Sir George Grey Scholarship for Science Grads., is an active participant in all phases of student life—except politics. His extensive capabilities can be judged from the following:He is secretary of the Defence Rifles and president of the Miniature Rifles Club. A Tournament rep. in both, he holds a Blue for minature shooting. Is captain of the Table Tennis Club, a member of the Congress Committee, of the Sports Council, and of the Swimming Club. He played water polo in the last Tournament. Thus he is competent to handle the many and varied needs of students, and is indeed a sound representative of all.

Jeff Stewart
Jeff stewart is an Arts student who has been at Victoria since 1944 with a year off in 1949. He has always been in Extrav while at Victoria, has written much original music and co-authored for Votthehalla and Hollandaze. He is mainly interested now in the Drama and Hockey clubs but always takes a keen interest in student affairs.
Jeff has the time now and offers his services to the Association to do some real constructive work. By that he means, for example, a real investigation into the Cafeteria problem Now. In every field Jeff is a true hard worker and his promise of immediate action is one that will be fully honoured and that does much to recommend him.

Pete Tarrant
Is a full time Chemistry Honours student whose capabilities may be judged from his outstanding record which incidentally doesn't include political notoriety. He is well-known at Weir House, being on the Committee, and Sports Convenor. A keen basketball player, he is Secretary of the VUC club and is a Wellington rep. He has represented for VUC since 1947, gaining his college Blus in 1949. Vice-Captain of the Swimming Club, he has represented VUC in swimming and water polo since 1948; he was on Process. Committee in 1949, and is now on the Social Committee and Sports Council. He has been Haka Party Controller and leader since 1949, and will be Junior Tournament delegate at Dunedin this year.
