No. 392, 1900.—Petition of Haora Tareranui and 9 Others.
Petitioners allege that when the Moehau Block was ceded to the Crown it was agreed that they should have a reserve of 1,856 acres set aside for them; they now find that this reserve (Moehau No. 1 G, or Waiaro) contains 500 acres short of the area agreed upon, and they pray for restitution of the land, and compensation for the kauri timber taken therefrom, and for other losses.
I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration.
