157 — General Freyberg to the Minister of Defence
General Freyberg to the Minister of Defence
I have to report that I took over command of the Division yesterday but today received orders to take over command of 13th Corps temporarily due to the death of General Gott.1 I have recalled Inglis to command the Division until someone arrives to take over command of the Corps. I will keep you in touch with the situation. Present indications are that the enemy will resume the offensive at an early date.
I visited the 5th and 6th Brigades today and found everyone fit and in good heart.
