[1] Memorial Signed by Ten out of Twelve of the Professorial Board.

Victoria University College, Wellington, 24th May, 1915.

The Chairman of the Victoria University College Council.

Dear Sir,—

Noticing that the question of Professor von Zedlitz’s position has been brought before the Councillor consideration, we wish to take the opportunity to make the following representation.

We have not the slightest reason to suppose that Professor von Zedlitz has at any time, by word or act, failed in the strictly honourable observance of his parole, and we have every confidence that he will not do so. We are sure that his services to the College have been whole-hearted and of the greatest value, and are of opinion that the loss of those services would be very seriously felt by the students, and would not be without effect on the College.
