Lake Canopus *
(100 yards south of and 150 feet above Lake Vanda).
This was the smallest lake investigated in detail for temperature. It is unique in that its temperature increases to 7 1/2° centigrade at 2 1/2 feet below the ice, and then stays constant to the bottom at 7 feet helot the ice.
