The Spike or Victoria College Review 1947
"I will make your limbo..."
"I will make your limbo..."
I will make your limbo have no burden
And reconcile forgetfulness with sleep,
Though hostile angels may attack your pardon
I will take them and their hate away.
You will have no solitude to weep,
For I will fill your day with company.
You will never recognise the prison
For I will place my shadow on your eyes,
Make your ears deaf to torment and derision
With my lost language made a world away.
You will never hear another's cries,
For I will fill your day with company.
Life in the end, with patience and fruition
Takes imperfect messengers to rest,
Reckons my equal voice a woman's portion,
Though now this speaking takes my love away.
You on earth are never all distressed,
Nor can I fill your day with company.
