The Spike or Victoria College Review 1936
Detached
Detached
Vision is wisest from afar;
From hills of wisdom to watch rainbow-tonings
Life's dizzy spectrum my foreground.
I know beginnings of trends
While men, dull pawns,
Sweat and are troubled;
At their weak tears I am amused.
When they are beauty-rapt
I see through beauty
And pity them;
I could never be happy in life—
I know how it works.
