Student Representative on College Council
Student Representative on College Council
Dear "Smad,"—
A few suggestions concering student representation on the Council:
1.— | A one-year term of office would secure more even representation than a two-year term. It would enable the most suitable representative of all to be appointed, namely, the Students' Association President in office or else his immediate predecessor. |
2.— | The fixing of an age-limit (say 25 or under) would ensure a representative of the normal student type and reasonably free from outside interests. |
3.— | If the representative is required to be a graduate (which would not be an unreasonable requirement), he could be limited to two years' standing; otherwise students might return to College merely in order to get on the Council. Too many precautions cannot be taken to keep out the place-seeker and the self-advertiser. |
4.— | It would not be unfair to restrict the voting to undergraduates. |
I am, etc.,
—Disinterested.
