Age
Age.
I've lapped up beer in buckets,
Smoked cigarettes galore,
Had low-down brawls with wharfies,
learned to haka and to roar.
I've been in pubs at night time,
And that's against the law,
And that's soap box meetings
With my haka and my roar.
I've kicked the pants of policemen,
Kissed women by the score,
Loved 'em (mataphorically)
With a haka and a roar.
I've attended rough-house dances,
Spoke a language tinged with gore,
A real rip-roaring snorter
Plus a haka and a roar.
I'm still a sorta snorter,
But I'm finding more and more
That there's something rather silly
In a haka and a roar.
I suppose I'm growing ancient,
A meticulous old bore,
But I want my wine and women
Without the haka and the roar.
