Annual Dinner

A hearty meal and bright speeches combined to make the Law Faculty Club's second annual dinner at the Masonic Hotel on Wednesday both enjoyable and successful.

Mr. J. C. White presided and the guests of honour were the Solicitor-General, Mr. H. H. Cornish, K.C., and the Professors and Lecturers of the Faculty.

The Toast of the Club.

After "Smad" had polished off an excellent repast, the Solicitor-General rose to propose the health of the Faculty. He stressed the importance of health, the reading of cultural literature, the knowledge of accountancy and science. The profession, he said, is a cultured, thoughtful and dignified one, and a lawyer should be a natural leader of the community.

Mr. A. T. S. McGhie then replied in characteristic fashion, punctuating his speech with numerous quotations.

The Professors.

After Mr. R. W. Edgley had proposed the toast of the Professors, Professor Adamson rose and thanked him for his flattering remarks. He had sat in trepidation the whole evening bacause he did not know how many home truths would come out.
