Swimming

Swimming.

The swimming was notable for A.U.C.'s win from C.U.C., although D. H. Symes, C.U.C., won the 100 yards, 220 yards, and 440 yards' titles, winning a heat of the latter in the N.Z.U. record time of 2min 41 4-5secs. A.U.C. were fortunate in possessing Misses Thomson and Steele, who, with G. A. Rix-Trott, rendered yeoman—or, rather, yeowoman—service towards winning the Shield. Lightness was added to the proceedings by the antics of the Whitcombes, and the splendid diving of the Wellington Diving Troupe under the leadership of Mr. John Penman, and an exhibition swim by Mr. K. Spry provided an interesting interlude..

Miss N. Webber, the driving force of our team, deserved her N.Z.U. Blue for her magnificent swimming in the 66 2-3 yards' Breast-stroke Championship.
