Women's Club

page 53

Women's Club.

At the beginning of the 2nd term a few enterprising spirits convened a meeting of women students to discuss the resurrection of the old "Women's Club." The meeting was entirely successful and the result was the enthusiastic revival of the Club, with the object of promoting a better spirit among the women and of encouraging social activities. The official opening took the form of a social in the Women's Common Room when games, musical items and competitions occupied the evening. This evening also gave us an opportunity of welcoming Mrs. Boyd-Wilson, who has kindly consented to become patron of the Club.

During the term a jumble sale was held to raise funds which are much needed to improve the equipment of the Common Room.

On the last evening of the term a "Back to Childhood" party was held. Those who unbent so far as to condescend to attend the party spent the evening in renewing childhood memories by means of childish games—and food.

So far the success of the Club has been limited—the women of this college have not rallied round as they should. The Club is interded to fill a much-felt gap in College life, and to ensure its success the whole-hearted support of every woman student is necessary.
