Haeremai Club

Haeremai Club

Although the Haeremai Club has only just completed the first year of its existence, it is already on a fair footing for a successful incoming year, the membership already standing at about 80.

Last year's meetings were, on the whole, a success, and as we have a far greater proportion of men students this year, it is hoped that the percentage of talent amongst the men will have increased accordingly.

Aroused from a stupor, aroused no doubt by the Influenza Epidemic of the Degree Exams, by our kindred Club, the Women's Club, the Club awoke to the fact that a new year had arrived, and a general business meeting convened on the 1st of May by Mr. Barker resulted in the election of a strong and energetic committee.

The second activity of the Club for this year was its appearance at the Women's Club dance on Saturday, May 3rd, where the Haeremaites, one and all, spent a most enjoyable evening. The Gym. was very artistically decorated with lanterns and green streamers, which arrangement has set a precedent in hall decoration hard to beat.

For general information, and for information of Freshers in particular, to all of whom we extend a hearty invitation to our evenings, we may state the Club's aims: The Club was formed to encourage a freer social intercourse among the men students, especially among those of different faculties. The meetings are held once a month on Saturday evenings. The evening entertainment takes the form of a social evening of musical, elocutionary, and humorous items, with supper.
