An Act to amend "The Rating Act, 1894." Title.
[26th October, 1895.
Be it Enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1. | The Short Title of this Act is "The Rating Act Amendment Short Title. Act, 1895," and it shall be read with "The Rating Act, 1894" (hereinafter called "the principal Act"). | ||||||||||||||||||
2. | Subject to the exceptions mentioned in paragraph eleven of Native lands vested in Public Trustee to be rateable property. the definition of "rateable property," in section two of the principal Act, it is hereby enacted as follows:—

3. | Definition of "rateable value" amended. Paragraph (1.) of the definition of "rateable value" in the aforesaid section two is hereby amended by inserting, after the words page 2"five per centum" in the last line of the paragraph, the words "of the value." | ||||||||||||||||||
4. | Amendments of principal Act. The principal Act is hereby amended as follows:—

Repeal of Acts inconsistent with principal Act. Section twenty-three of "The Napier Harbour Board Loan Act, 1892," and also all other Acts or portions of Acts, whether local or general, which are in any way inconsistent with any of the provisions of the principal Act, are hereby repealed in so far as such inconsistency exists:
Provided that, notwithstanding such repeal, all rates or arrears Proviso. of rates made prior to the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, may be duly collected, sued for, and recovered, at any time thereafter, as if this Act had not been passed.
