18th August, 1851.Sir,—I have the honor to report, for the information of His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, that the Natives at Orakei have offered a piece of land containing one hundred and eighty acres, forming the north slope of Mount Hobson, and adjoining the property of Captain Kelly and Section No. 14, for the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds, which I recommend to be accepted as fair and reasonable, considering the quality and situation; and, if approved by His Excellency, I have to request that the above sum may be made available for the purchase as soon as possible, as the Natives have made it one of the stipulations of the contract.
