Auckland, December 21st, 1857.
Sir,—
With reference to your letter of the 7th instant, forwarding a plan of the Mata Block, comtaining Eleven thousand one hundred and eight acres, exclusive of the Native Reserves, being One thousand one hundred and eight acres in excess of the area as estimated by you in your letter of the 2nd October, 1856.
I have the honor, by direction of the Governor, to inform you that in consideration of the increased area of the block, His Excellency has been pleased to approve of your concluding the purchase at a price not exceeding Seven hundred pounds (£700), for which purpose that sum will be transmitted to you in the usual manner.
