Translation.

1859. 28 June.Ranga-a-Tawhao.We have received on this 28th day of June 1859 the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds (£350) which Mr. McLean has given us in payment for our land which we haveReceipt for £350. sold under the shining sun of this day as a lasting possession to Victoria Queen of England and to the Kings and Queens her successors for ever. The Ranga-a-Tawhao isBoundaries. the principal name of this land. The boundary of the side towards Kaweka begins at Mangatutu and runs to Makahu, thence to te Umuomaukorohe, Ngahine o Patua i waho, te Kurapa, te Tawaroa, te Karuwai, and thence to Makino, thence to Mohaka, and following the Mohaka closes up at Mangatutu.

The question of the balance to be paid for this land is to be settled on the completion of the survey, it will then be finally concluded when the quality and size of the land is known, which we have this day finally ceded to Victoria the Queen of England and to all the Kings and Queens Her successors for ever.
