Translation.

Napier, August 5th, 1858.
1858. 5 August.We have this day received from Mr. Cooper the sum of Twenty Pounds sterling asPukahu. payment for our land, for Pukahu, which we have this day consented to give up to theReceipt for £20. Queen of England. This is not the full consideration for this land, but an earnest for it on account of our consenting. These and all other monies given for this land will be arranged at the time when the final agreement is made and the land surveyed.
