Translation.
We have received on this day on the thirteenth (13) of the days
of September in the1855. 13 September.Wairarapa District. Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty five 1855 the sum of
five hundred pounds £500 in money which Mr. Cooper has paid to us. This is the final
payment to us for our piece of land which we sold to Mr. McLean on the 1st of
September 1853 as a sure and certain possession to Victoria the Queen of England and
to all theWest Side of Lake Kings and Queens her successors for ever. And these five hundred pounds
were(Block 1). promised to be paid to us in the course of the current year. The boundaries
of the landReceipt for £500, last instalment. which is finally settled for by the present payment are as follow: Beginning
at Turakirae the boundary runs on to Orongorongo and up the Orongorongo stream
toBoundaries. its source, thence it crosses to Mangatamahine and runs on to Ngapaiaka,
thence to Haututu, thence to Ngapewa, thence to Haka a te Rangi, thence in a
Northerly direction to te Rere a Mahanga, thence to Tokakaumea, thence down the
Otauira to the Wairarapa Lake, and the boundary then runs by the Wairarapa Lake to
Kiriwai, and thence to the salt sea, and thence by the sea coast back to Turakirae.
Now this is the final payment to us for these lands. Only the payment (of 5 per cent
on the salesFive per cents to be paid. of land by the Crown) which in the first instance were promised to us, and
the particulars of which payments are set forth in the deed of sale of 1st September
1853—those payments alone are left to be paid to us hereafter. And upon the receipt
by us of these five hundred pounds, we have hereto subscribed our names and marks.
