That in consideration of the sum of one thousand five hundred pounds paid to theReceipt for £1,500. said parties hereto of the first part by the Native Minister at or before the execution hereof they the said parties hereto of the first part for themselves and all other persons members of the said tribes or otherwise having any power or authority to enter into this agreement do hereby undertake and agree to for ever relinquish all their claims and demands and matters in dispute with the General Government in anywise relating to one thousand one hundred and fifty acres of land known as the disputed land at Hoeta's pole as the same land is delineated on the plan endorsed hereon and also allHoeta's pole. their claims and demands for costs and damages incurred in or sustained by them in and about seeking to establish their claims to any parts of the Rangitikei-Manawatu block since the purchase thereof by the Native Lands Purchase Commissioner, and also that they the said parties hereto of the first part and all other persons as aforesaid will for ever relinquish and cease to establish all other claims and demands on the General Government for or in respect of any land in the said Rangitikei-Manawatu block save and except certain awards of land already made or agreed to be made to the said parties hereto of the first part by the Native Lands Court and by the Native Minister, And also for the considerations aforesaid they the said parties hereto of the first part and all other persons as aforesaid will relinquish to the General Government all claim to the block of land situate in the Rangitikei-Manawatu block containing about five hundred and fourteen acres and known as Te Rakehou as delineated on the planTe Rakehou. (514 acres.) endorsed hereon, In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto subscribed their names the day and year first above written.

Declaration of Thomas McDonnell.I, Thomas McDonnell, of Wanganui, in the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:—
1.That I did faithfully interpret in the Maori language the within-written agreement to Takana te Kawa, Te Ara Takana, Hoeta Kahuhui, Rahira Kahuhui, Karehana Tauranga, Taimona Pikauroa, Maraki te Rangikaitu, Te Hi Turanga, Makeruke te Aewa, Epiha te Moanakino, Roera te Kawa, Te Tura Kahuhui, Mokena Pahurahi, Retimana te Hapoki, Hakaraia Whakaneke, Titaha Pape, Hepi Kahuhui, Merihira Tauranga, Hepi te Wheoro, Hara Tauranga, Ramari Kahuhui, Mitiria te Kawa, Wiremu Karamoa, Hori te Hapoki, Moringa Hapoki, Wiremu Hohimi, Hemi Homini, Metapere Kahuhui, Pirihira Kahuhui, Marara Kahuhui, Tupataia Kahuhui, Mata Kahupureke, Riria te Moanakino, Ataneta Paratawhake, Te Wani Tauranga, Harata Kiore, te Kooro te One, Reupena te One, Noa te Tata, Tino Tangata, Erina te Kooro, Atereti Taratoa, Wiremu Taratoa, Keremihana Wairaka, Pirihira Wairaka, Wereta Kaimate, Apia te Hiwi, Pita te Aikiha, Mere te Hiwi, Te Au te Hiwi, Arapata te Hiwi, Eruera Taiaho, Hori Ngawhare, Hemi Rangiwhakairi, Wiritana te Rangi, Pumipi te Kaka, Paiura Taiporutu, Taniora Rehua, Heperi Maitiaha, Keepa Paiura, Ruta te Kimate, therein named and described, previous to their respective execution thereof, and that my translation was correct and was understood by them.
2.That the said Deed was executed by the above-named parties in the presence of me, this declarant, and of Morgan Carkeek, of Rangitikei, Surveyor, and was executed on the day it bears date, being the twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.
3.That the name Thomas McDonnell is of my proper handwriting, and that I am a duly licensed Native Interpreter under the Native Lands Acts in force in this colony.
4.That the name Morgan Carkeek, set and subscribed to the within-written agreement as one of the witnesses attesting the due execution thereof by the above-named parties, is of the proper handwriting of the said Morgan Carkeek, and that the said Morgan Carkeek is a male adult.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, under and by virtue of "The Justices of the Peace Act, 1866."
