1876. 4 February. Otaki District.This Deed made the fourth day of February 1876 between Her Majesty Queen Victoria of the one part and Tamihana Te NGAKARORO No. 2C. Hoia, Tiaki Hawea, Manahi te Humu, Te Oti Kerei te Hoia, Mere Hawea, Henare Korouaputa, Poopo te Hoia, Kita Hamene, Wi Parata te Hoia, and Hiriwanu Manahi, Kerehoma Paretawa, Hohua te Riunui, Paraone Tamihana, Epiha Tame Hawea, Te Oti te Poopo, Apiata Tiaki, Hareta te Poopo, Paranihi Hawea, and Katarina Hamene of Otaki aboriginal Natives of the Colony of New Zealand (hereinafter called "the Vendors") of the other part witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty seven pounds & 10/ (£257 . 10 . 0) by Her Receipt for £257 10s. Majesty paid to the Vendors on the execution hereof (and the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged), the Vendors do and each of them doth hereby surrender convey and assure unto Her said Majesty all that block or parcel of land containing one thousand nine hundred and thirty three acres or thereabouts known or called Ngakaroro No. 2C as the same is more particularly described in the Schedule hereto and delineated on the plan drawn on this Deed and colored red together with all rights and appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining, To hold the said land and premises with the appurtenances unto Her said Majesty Her heirs and successors for ever, In Witness whereof the Vendors have hereunto set their hands the day and year first above written.

Signed by the said Tamihana te Hoia, Hohoua te Riunui, Kerehoma Paratawa, Paraone Tamihana, Tiaki Hawea and Manihi te Humu the same having been first read over to them in the Maori language by an Interpreter of the Court when they appeared fully to understand the meaning and purport thereof in the presence of—
