This Deed made the eighth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand1873. 8 November.Grey and Bell District. eight hundred and seventy three Between Robert Parris of New Plymouth in the Province of Taranaki and Colony of New Zealand Commissioner of Native Reserves of the one part and Her Majesty the Queen of the other part, Whereas by an Act of thePart Te Hua Reserve. General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The New Zealand Native Reserves Act 1856" certain powers therein specified are vested in the Commissioners under the said Act And whereas by another Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Native Reserves Amendment Act 1862 all the powers and authorities which by the Native Reserves Act 1856 are given to or vested in or which may be exercised by Commissioners appointed or to be appointed under that Act shall vest in and may be exercised by the Governor of New Zealand and it is by the said Act of 1862 further enacted that the Governor may by an Order in Council delegate all or any of the powers competent to the Commissioners under the said first mentioned Act unto any person or perspns for any period subject to any restrictions which may be specified in such order, and whereas by an order in Council bearing date the twenty eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty four His Excellency Sir George Grey (the then Governor of page 34New Zealand) in exercise of the powers and authority so vested in him as Governor as aforesaid did delegate unto the said Robert Parris all the powers competent to Commissioners under the said first recited Act without any restrictions or stipulations whatever, And whereas the said Robert Parris hath in exercise of the powers so vested in him as aforesaid and with the consent of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand sold the parcel of land hereinafter described to the Minister ofReceipt for £60. Public Works for the purposes of the Waitara and New Plymouth railway for the sum of Sixty pounds, Now this Deed witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds paid by the Minister of Public Works to the said Robert Parris (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) he the said Robert Parris in exercise of such power and authority so delegated to him as aforesaid doth hereby convey and assure unto Her Majesty the Queen her heirs and successors and assigns all that piece or parcel of land situate at the Hua in the Province of Taranaki aforesaid and being part of the Native Reserve called "the Native Reserve Hua" and containing by admeasurement four acres three roods and eleven perches moreBoundaries. [4a. 3r. 11p.] or less, bounded towards the East by section number 4 one hundred and fifty five links towards the North by other part of said Native Reserve three thousand four hundred and thirty links and towards the South and South West by section numbered 45 three hundred and seventy five links and by other part of said Native Reserve three thousand links, as the same is delineated on the plan drawn on the margin of these presents and colored pink, Together with all ways rights and appurtenances thereto belonging and all such estate right title and interest in and to the same as he the said Robert Parris is or shall become seized or possessed of or is by the Immigration and Public Works Act 1870 or the Immigration and Public Works Act Amendment Act 1871 or is by virtue of the powers and authorities so vested in him as aforesaid empowered to convey of otherwise assure, To hold the same land and premises unto Her Majesty the Queen her heirs and successors and assigns for ever, In Witness whereof the said Robert Parris hath hereunto subscribed his name the day and year first before written.
