District.
This deed made the first day of November in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight
1873. 1 November.Bell and Grey District. hundred and seventy three Between Paki Taura and Mohi Niumatua both of the
Mangaone in the Province of Taranaki and Colony of New Zealand, aboriginal
natives
Te Hua. of the one part and Her Majesty the Queen of the other part Witnesseth that
in
(Four Pieces Maori Land). consideration of the sum of one hundred and five pounds ten shillings paid
by the Minister for Public Works to the said Paki Taura and Mohi Niumatua (the
receipt
Receipt for £105 10s. whereof is hereby acknowledged) they the said Paki Taura and Mohi Niumatua
do and each of them doth hereby convey and assure unto Her Majesty the Queen her
heirs and successors and assigns all those four pieces or parcels of land situate at
the Hua in the said Province of Taranaki and containing together by admeasurement
eight acres two roods and thirty five perches more or less being part of unallotted
land in the occupation of Maoris, bounded towards the North by like unallotted land
one thousand nine hundred
Boundaries. [8a. 2r. 35p.] and sixty three links, two hundred and fifty links, six thousand Jour
hundred and seventy links, one hundred links and two hundred and forty links,
towards the West by allotment numbered 38 one hundred and sixty links and by Native
Reserve marked A one hundred and ten links, towards the South also by unallotted
land in the occupation of Maoris one hundred and eighty links, one hundred links,
six thousand four hundred and ninety links; and one thousand nine hundred and twenty
links and by the Mangaone stream and towards the East by Smart road one hundred and
ten links, and the Mangaone stream one hundred and twenty links, reserving
nevertheless the portion of Native Reserve marked A intersecting the same and the
Egmont road through the same, as the same parcels of land are delineated on the plan
drawn in the margin of these presents and therein colored pink. Together with all
ways rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging and all such estate right title
and interest in land to the same as the said Paki Taura and Mohi Niumatua are or
shall become seized or possessed of or are by the Immigration and Public Works Act
1870 or the Immigration and Public Works Act
page 32Amendment Act 1871 empowered to convey or otherwise
assure. To hold the said land and premises unto Her Majesty the Queen her heirs and
successors and assigns for ever.
In Witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto subscribed
