Translation.
This land has finally gone for a road, our title and our claim and the claim of our relations and descendants is done away with for ever—and it remains a lasting possession for the Queen and her descendants, and the Kings or Queens who may succeed her for ever. And in testimony of the truth of this conveyance by us for ourselves and all our relations we have subscribed our names and marks to this Deed written at New Plymouth on the sixth (6) day of November, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred, and fifty eight 1858.
