Translation.

1855 Novermber 2. New Plymouth District.We have receivedfrom Mr. McLean on this day on the second (2) of the days of November in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty five 1855 the sum of One Hundred Pounds £100 Sterling as payment for all my lands at Ngamotu. The boundary commences at Herekawe the boundary upwards is Paretutu also Tukupere NGAMOTU. Receipt for £100, Nelson claims. Pouakai Tahuna a te tawa and upwards to Pukaramu Umutekai Hikurangi Puketotara Turangarua te Keteiwi te Rewarewa Pukahu Opokino Waiwakaio. We give up all these lands to Victoria the Queen of England on this day on which the sun now shines and for ever.
