Translation.

1858. 8 MayWe have received from Donald McLean Esquire the sum of Three hundred pounds Thames District (£300.0.0) once told as a first instalment for our land at Waihou and on to Katikati and for our claim also to Piako. The full amount of purchase money for the said Waihou and Piako. lands is to be determined when the land is surveyed and the boundaries perambulated. If Receipt for £300. the sale of the above named land is not assented to by all those persons who have a claim to the said land we will give up some other of our lands in consideration of these monies and for the monies which shall be expended in the survey and other contingent expenses connected therewith. And in testimony of our consent to these conditions we hereunto sign our names and marks on this eighth (8) day of May 1858.
