Translation

Translation.

We have received on the 21 day of June in the year of Our Lord 1854 the sum of 1854. 21 June. Hotukiwi. £50 in payment for certain land of ours at Hauraki called Hotukiwi and Hotungaio.
These are the boundaries: Commencing at Te Totara thence to Tanepaia thence Receipt for £50. to Hotukiwi thence to Aratakahi thence to Hotungaio thence to Waihou thence along Boundaries. the river up Hauraki to Te Totara the commencing point.

Now we entirely give up this land to Victoria the Queen of England and to the kings and Queens who may succeed Her, together with its trees its rocks and every thing belonging to it for ever.

For the receipt of this money we hereunto subscribe our names and make our marks.
