1854. 11 December.Manukau District.Na whakarongo mai kua riro mai i au inaianei nga pauna moni e rima tekau takitahi Waiuku. (£50) otira ko enei moni he mea tango mai e au no roto no nga moni o te utunga whakamutunga Receipt for £50, advance. o Waiuku raua ko te Whakaupoko i whakaritea iho ai e maua ko te Makarini e rima nga rau takitahi kua riro mai i au i mua hei hoko Purapura—Parete na nonaianei hoki ka tangohia mai ano E rima tekau takitahi Na te Kepa enei moni i homai ki au i Akarana i tenei ra i te tekau ma tahi o nga ra o Tihema i te tau 1854.

Translation.

1854. 11 December.Waiuku.Know all men I have this day received the sum of Fifty Pounds (£50) once told. These monies are to be deducted from the final payment for Waiuku and Whakaupoko Receipt for £50, advance. according to my agreement with Mr. McLean—Five hundred pounds being agreed to by Mr. McLean—Fifty pounds I received on a former occasion with which to purchase page 745seed potatoes and this day I have taken Fifty pounds once told. These monies were paid to me by Mr. Kemp at Auckland this eleventh day of December in the year 1854.
