Translation.

We have received on this fourth (4th) day of August in the year of our Lord 1854 1854. 4 August. the sum of one hundred pounds (£100) once told this being the first instalment for our Kotuku. land named Te Kotuku at Whaingaroa. The boundary commences at Puketutu thence £100, first instalment. to Te Kotuku thence to Waipapa, Taumatakoi, Te Iringawhakarewa and on to Putakaka where the boundary terminates in that direction: thence returning to Kahuhuru, Hokomeri, te Huatapu to te Kirikiri and down to the beach along which it proceeds to Puketutu.

We have for ever transferred all this land to Victoria the Queen of England with its streams trees and whatsoever thereunto appertains under the shining sun of this day.
