Translation.

We have received on this day the nineteenth of June, in the year of Our Lord; 1854. 1854. 19 June. the sum of £100 from Mr. McLean in payment for certain land of ours called Lower Waikato District. Mangatawhiri, this is the first payment.
These are the boundaries: Commencing at Tiheru thence along the Mangatawhiri Stream to Te Here thence from Te Here to Whakangutu thence, along the Mangatawhiri. Whakangutu stream to the Whangamarino stream thence along that stream to the Koheroa. Waikato river, it joins the Waikato at Te Teoteo thence along the Waikato river to Boundaries. Tiheru including all the Islands adjacent to this land. Islands included.

Now we have entirely given up this land to Victoria the Queen of England and to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her for ever.

For the receipt by us of this money we hereunto subscribe our names and make Receipt for £100, first instalment. our marks.
