Translation.

1848. 18 July.Manukau District.This Deed written on the eighteenth day of July in the year One thousand eight hundred and forty eight is an agreement between me a Chief of Ngatitamaoho and the Queen of England on her own behalf—Whereby Wetere Chief of Ngatitamaoho the Wharau No. II. owner of the land described in this Deed on behalf of himself and his tribe agrees to sell this land to Queen Victoria in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds now given to him the said Chief on which account is given and delivered over to Victoria Queen of England and to her successors for ever with all thereto belonging the before mentioned Boundaries. land called Te Wharau, it is bounded as follows, commences at Kokoreka thence to Pukekaroro thence to Waimataku on the West the boundary is the sea shore till it reaches Matatahi thence it comes to the Wharau and from the Wharau it goes along the waters of Manukau till it joins Kokoreka it is finished.

The plan of the land is drawn on the other side of this Deed.
