1848. 19 August.Manukau District.Ko Te Tuhituhinga o tenei pukapuka i te tahi tekau ma iwa o nga ra o Ahikuta i te tau kotahi mano waru rau wha tekau ma waru toku whakaaetanga he Rangatira no Nihotupu. Ngatiwhatua te whakaaetanga hoki o te Kuini o Ingarangi mona: na ko Wiremu Rewiti he Rangatira no Ngatiwhatua te tangata o te kainga i tuhituhia nei ki tenei pukapuka. Na ka whakaae nei taua Rangatira mona mo tona hapu ano hoki, ki te hoko i tenei whenua ki a Kuini Victoria hei utu mo nga pauna moni e Rua ka hoatu nei ki taua Rangatira no konei ka hoatu nei; ka tukua atu nei kia Victoria te Kuini o Ingarangi, ki te Kingi Kuini ranei o muri i a ia ake ake ake taua whenua me nga aha noa iho, aha noa iho o taua whenua te wahi o Nihotupu ko nga kaha o taua kainga koia enei.
Boundaries. Ki te hauraro timata ana ki te awa o Nihotupu i te Keringa a haere atu ki tetahi atu keringa ko te kaha ki te hauauru tenei a rere ki Puketutu, ko te kaha ki te tonga tenei; a rere atu ki Ngamoko ki te awa, ko te taha ki te marangai tenei: kua oti nei tenei kaha te kokoti.

Translation.

1848. 19 August.Manukau District.This Deed written on the nineteenth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty eight is an Agreement between me a Chief of Ngatiwhatua and the Queen of England on her own behalf whereby William Davis a Chief of the Ngatiwhatua Nihotupu. the Owner of the land described in this Deed agrees on behalf of himself and his tribe to sell this land to Queen Victoria in consideration of the sum of two pounds now given to him the said chief, on which account is given and delivered over to Victoria Queen of England and to her successors for ever that before mentioned land being part of Nihotupu with all thereto belonging, its boundaries are follows.

It commences at the North at the river of Nihotupu at a place marked by a hole dug, and goes thence to another place marked similarly, this is the Western boundary; thence to Puketutu which is the Southern boundary; thence to Ngamoko to the river, Boundaries. this is the Eastern boundary which is cut; the Plan of the land is described on the other side of this.
