Translation.

1852. 19 April.Auckland District.This Deed made on the nineteenth of April one thousand eight hundred and fifty two is an Agreement made between, us Chiefs of Ngatiwhatua and the Queen of England whereby we the owners of the piece of land herein described consent to sell the said Mr. Berry's Claim, Waitemata. piece of land unto Her Majesty Victoria an consideration of the sum of eight pounds ten shillings now given to us which sum is a balance due to us from Berry to whom this land was sold with a further sum for a small piece of ground which was excepted (in the sale to him) Wherefore we give over and deliver up to Her Majesty Victoria Her Heirs and Successors all those pieces of land with all that belongs to them bounded as Boundaries. follows. On the North there is Rarawaru which is Crown property and the piece of land which was sold to Wellesley Hughes, on the East there is the Waitemata river, on the South there is a stream called Manu-te-wao running up which to the land of Brigham. On the West by the said land of Brigham and by the Waitemata river.

Receipt for £8 . 10, balance of purchase money. We have received the eight pounds ten shillings sterling as written in this Deed wherefore we sign our names this 19th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two.
