Translation.

1854. 24 August.This is a Deed or sale of land written at Auckland on this the 24th day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty four. It contains the Tokatoka. consent of te Uriohau and of Waiaruhe to sell a portion of our land to the Queen Victoria of England. The boundaries are these. It begins at the river Hiraku it Boundaries. follows the course of the river Wairoa to the Awaiti here it leaves the river and takes an page 190inland direction at the Waiti from thence to Motu Koroi; this is the inland boundary from thence to Hikuika Matarauaruhe from thence towards the Wairoa into the riv e Hiraku—here it finishes.
And because we have given our consent to sell a portion of our land called Tokatoka to the Queen Victoria of England—the Queen of England also consents to pay us the sum of One Hundred Pounds in money as a first payment for this land and in the summer season when the land is properly surveyed then shall the final payment be Receipt for £100, first instalment. made. We have received the sum of One Hundred pounds through the hands of Mr. Johnson one of the Commissioners for the Governor of New Zealand and in token thereof we have hereto signed our names.
