Translation.

This Deed written on this twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord 1864 is a 1864. 20 January.Kaipara District. full and final sale conveyance and surrender by us the Chiefs and People of the Tribe Ngatiwhatua whose names are hereunto subscribed And Witnesseth that on behalf of ourselves our relatives and descendants we have by signing this Deed under the shining Pukeatua. sun of this day parted with and for ever transferred unto Victoria Queen of England Her Heirs the Kings and Queens who may succeed Her and Her and Their Assigns for ever in consideration of the Sum of three thousand five hundred and fifty Pounds (£3550 . 0 . 0) to us paid by John Rogan on behalf of the Queen Victoria (and we hereby acknowledge the receipt of the said monies) all that piece of our Land situated at Kaipara and named Pukeatua the boundaries whereof are set forth at the foot of this Deed and a plan of which Land is annexed thereto with its trees minerals waters rivers lakes streams and all appertaining to the said Land or beneath the surface of the said Land and all our right title claim and interest whatsoever thereon To Hold to Queen Victoria Her Heirs and Assigns as a lasting possession absolutely for ever and ever. And in testimony of our consent to all the conditions of this Deed we have hereunto subscribed our names and marks. And in testimony of the consent of the Queen of England on her part to all the conditions of this Deed the name of John Rogan Commissioner is hereunto subscribed. These are the boundaries of the Land Boundaries. commencing at Ngahokowhitu and running thence along the survey line bearing 283° 38′ 9300 links 194° 55′ 1430 links 273° 30′ 26288 links to the boundary of the Ararimu Block thence along the boundary of the said Block bearing 331° 8′ 6930 links 263° 48′ 22559 links to the Kaukapakapa Block (south) thence along the boundary of the said block bearing 328° 0′ 3678 links 327° 30′ 7120 links to the Waikahikatea stream thence down the course of that stream to the boundary of Tamati Reweti's Reserve, thence along the boundary of the said Reserve bearing 71° 15′ 6510 links 24° 15′ 12240 links to the Waipapakauri stream, thence down the course of the said stream to the Kaukapakapa River, thence up the course of that River to the boundary of the Parikakau Block thence along the said boundary to Te Ahutoetoe and thence along the survey line bearing 112° 0′ 2800 links 119° 15′ 10250 links to Pukekohe thence along the survey line bearing 148° 0′ 3810 links to the Weiti stream thence down the course of that stream to Mr. Knight's survey line, thence along that survey line bearing 153° 10′ 8200 links 113° 45′ 22350 links to Apotu thence along the said line bearing 191° 30′ 24000 links 113° 30′ 1250 links to the commencement at Ngahokowhitu.
