This Deed, written on the seventh 7th day of July in the year of Our Lord One thousand 1854. 7 July.Whangarei District. eight hundred and fifty four 1854, is a paper of the full consent of us the Chiefs and Freemen of the Ngatitu and Patuharakeke whose names are affixed to this document:—written on behalf of ourselves, our relations, and our descendants; to give up for. ever a certain portion of our lands to Victoria, the Queën of England or to the Kings or Takahiwae. Queens who may succeed her for evér. And in consideration of our full consent to sell a certain portion of our land, Victoria the Qùeen of Englànd, on her part, agrees Receipt for £75. to pay us the sum of seventy five pounds £75. 0 . 0, which monies we have this day received from the hands of Mr. Johnson.

The boundaries of the land are these—On the west, the Takahiwae stream, in the Boundaries. [1,200 acres.] course of which it runs to the Koroi treë on the Poupouwhenua boundary; thence south west to the boundary of Ruakaka; thence in an easterly direction along the range of hills to the boundary of Poupouwhenua, and thence northwards along the boundary of the Poupouwhenua and thence to the mouth of the Takahiwae, where it terminates.
