1874. 19 October.Bay Of Islands District.This Deed made the Nineteenth day of October in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four Between Makareta Irimahoe,
Eruera Waikerepuru and Hirini Keno of Ohaeawai in the Province of Auckland in
the Colony of New Zealand, Part of Puketapu No. IV. Aboriginal Natives of the said Colony of the one part and Her Majesty
Queen Victoria of the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of
Ten Pounds paid by Her Majesty the Queen to the said Makareta Irimahoe and
Eruera Waikerepuru and Receipt for £10. Hirini Keno (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) they the said
Makareta Irimahoe, and Eruera Waikerepuru and Hirini Keno do and each of them
doth hereby convey and assure unto Her said Majesty the Queen her heirs
successors and assigns All that piece or parcel of land in the said Province of
Auckland being North-western portion of Puketapu Block Number Four situated at
Ohaeawae, Bay of Islands County of Hokianga which piece of land hereby conveyed
contains one acre more or less and is Boundaries. [1a. 0r. 0p.] bounded towards the North East by Puketapu block number two three
hundred and seventy seven links towards the South East by a road one chain wide,
one hundred and eighty six links and eighty six links on the South West by other
portion of Puketapu block number Four aforesaid five hundred and seven links and
towards the North West by Puketapu block number Two, two hundred and twenty five
links, as delineated by the plan drawn hereon, With all the rights and
appurtenances thereunto belonging To hold the same unto Her said Majesty Queen
Victoria her heirs and successors and assigns for ever. And the said Makareta
Irimahoe and Eruera Waikerepuru and Hirini Keno do and each of them doth hereby
for themselves and himself their and his heirs executors and administrators
covenant with Her Majesty the Queen her heirs successors and assigns That the
Crown Grant of the said Puketapu block number four bearing date the First day of
January one thousand eight hundred and seventy and Registered as No. 474 c. nc.
in the office of the Register of Deeds at Auckland shall from time to time and
at all times hereafter (inevitable accident alone preventing) be produced in New
Zealand as occasion shall require but at the request and costs of Her Majesty
the Queen her heirs successors or assigns, And that at the like request and
costs true and attested copies of the said Crown Grants shall be given to Her
Majesty the Queen her heirs successors or assigns, And that the same shall be
kept safe whole and undefaced, In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto
subscribed their names.
Signed by the said Makareta Irimahoe, Eruera Waikerepuru and Hirini Keno
in the presence of the undersigned Edward Marsh Williams R.M. of the District of the Bay of Islands
(and I hereby certify that the said Makareta Irimahoe Eruera Waikerepuru and
Hirini Keno fully understood the import of the above Deed before signing the
same) and in the presence of the undersigned William Spence King.
