This Deed made the twentieth day of November (1874) in the
year of our Lord one 1874. 20 November.
Bay of Plenty District. thousand eight hundred and seventy four Between Ngahuruhuru, Taiapo Te
Waiatua, Rewe Tereanuku, Te Warihi and Rotohiko Haupapa Aboriginal Chiefs of the
Colony of New Zealand on behalf of the members of the Ngatiwhakaue Tribe
(hereinafter Parish Matata, Allot. 27, No. 2. called the Vendors) of the one part and Her Majesty Queen Victoria of
the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of One thousand
pounds sterling (£1000) paid by Her said Majesty to the vendors (the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged) Receipt for £1,000. They the vendors do and each of them doth hereby surrender convey and
assure unto Her said Majesty Her heirs and successors, All that parcel of land
in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of New Zealand containing by
admeasurement eight hundred and thirty five acres more or less and being
allotment number one in the Parish of Matata in the county of Rotorua Bounded
towards the North by a road one hundred Boundaries. [5,653 acres.] links wide nine hundred and twenty eight links thence crossing the same
road one hundred links thence by allotment number ten three thousand and sixty
one links thence crossing a road one hundred and seven links thence by the same
road three hundred and thirty links thence by allotment number four three
hundred and sixty four links and four thousand five hundred and thirty links
towards the East by the Tarawera River, towards the South by allotment number
twenty three one hundred and two chains and twenty links and towards the West by
a road of width aforesaid, one thousand one hundred and sixty links, one
thousand five hundred and forty eight links, nine hundred and thirty four links,
eight hundred links, one thousand six hundred and thirty nine links, one
thousand three hundred and thirty links, one thousand two hundred and seven
links, and one thousand seven hundred and eighty four links intersected by a
road one hundred links wide, And also all that parcel of land in the said
Province and Colony containing by admeasurement Four thousand eight hundred and
eighteen acres more or less and being allotment number twenty seven in the
Parish of Matata in the County of Rotorua Bounded towards the North by allotment
number Twelve one hundred and thirty six chains and seventy links, towards the
East by allotment number Twenty one eight thousand two hundred and seventy
links, again towards the North by allotment number twenty one aforesaid and
allotment number twenty six, six thousand five hundred links towards the North
West by allotment number Twenty nine thousand five hundred links thence crossing
a road one hundred and ninety four links and again by allotment number Twenty
aforesaid three thousand two hundred links towards the North East by the
Tarawera River, towards the South East by allotment number twenty nine, nine
thousand three hundred and sixty links thence crossing a road one hundred and
eight links thence by allotment number twenty nine aforesaid, four thousand and
sixteen links, thence by allotment number twenty nine aforesaid and allotment
twenty eight two hundred and fifty four chains, and towards the West by
allotment number sixty three, two hundred and thirty four chains and seventy
links, intersected from North to South by a road one hundred links as the same
are delineated by the plans drawn hereon edged red with all the rights and
appurtenances thereunto belongings to Hold the same unto Her said Majesty her
heirs and successors for ever. In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto
subscribed their names.
