Translation.

1857. 10 August.Kawhia District.Know all men by these Presents that on this tenth (10th) day of August in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven 1857 We the Undersigned Aboriginal Native Chiefs and Aboriginal Natives of New Zealand Harihari No. 2. in Consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Pounds £200 to Us paid by John Rogan Esquire on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Victoria Moreover the sum of Two Hundred Pounds was received by Hone Pumipi on the fourth (4th) July 1854 (the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) Do and each of Us Doth hereby Sell Release and Convey unto Her said Majesty Queen Victoria Her Heirs Successors or Assigns all that Piece or Parcel of Land known by the name of Boundaries. Harihari at Kawhia. The boundary commences a little above the Waihakura river thence running to Orore Pukekokio Puketarata Tutonu Rarawheroa Ngaiwiturua Ratapiki Te Rara Te Wairoa Mangapapa Kotorohanga Maungakoe Huarua thence along the course of the Huarua stream to the confluence of Mangapapa thence on along the Mangapapa stream as far as Maungakakau thence on through the forest till it strikes the ridge thence right on to Te Atamarama on the sea coast thence on along high water mark till it arrives at a point a little above the Waihakura river. There the boundaries close. And all the Rights and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and all the Right Title Interest Claim and Demand whatsoever of Us and each of Us the Undersigned therein and thereto to Hold the said Land and Appurtenances unto Her said Majesty page 623Her Heirs and Assigns absolutely for ever. In Witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our Names.
