1854. 20 June.Lower Waikato District.The Writing of this Deed made on the (20th) twentieth day of June One thousand eight hundred and fifty four contains the consenting of the Chiefs of "Mataheka" together with the consent or agreement on the part of the Queen of England.
Mataheka. Now we Wetere Te Kauae, Haimona Paetai Aperahama Ta Kerei the owners of the land described within this Deed do consent to sell this land to Queen Victoria in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and eighty Pounds Sterling (£180) which has been paid to us, and on this account we now surrender this Land to Victoria page 571Queen of England to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her for ever and ever with whatever appertains thereto.

The Boundaries of this land are described on the other side of this Deed. This money was paid to us by Mr. McLean and by Mr. Ligar,—this being the last and final payment.

We have received the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds sterling as specified Receipt for £180, final payment. in this Deed and in token thereof we have signed our names on this the 20th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
