Translation.
1854. 10 July.This Deed of sale of land written on this tenth day of July
in the year 1854 is a Piako District. document of the final consent by us to fully cede a portion of our land
to the Queen of England It is situate at Hauraki at Piako.
Mancawhero. These are the boundaries, commencing at Mangawhero thence inland to
Maungakawa, Boundaries. it turns here and goes along on top of the range to the valley of the
Hauraki, it turns there towards the West along the Piako river to Mangawhero
where the boundaries join.
Receipt for £100. And in consideration of our consent to give up this land the Queen of
England agrees to pay to us the sum of One hundred pounds (£100) which Mr.
McLean has handed to us this day.

Now we have entirely given up this land to the Queen together with the trees
the streams the stones and everything else for ever. And in consideration of the
receipt of this money we have signed our names and made our marks.
