The Pamphlet Collection of Sir Robert Stout: Volume 82
(Telegram.) Dunedin, January 19, 1885. W. M. Hannay, Esq., Assistant General Manager New Zealand Railways, Wellington
January 19, 1885.
W. M. Hannay,
Esq., Assistant General Manager New Zealand Railways, Wellington.Your telegram of 16th considered by Messrs Bell, Wales, and myself. In reply I am directed to say that, notwithstanding Sir Julius Vogel's impression, we are positive that a daily connecting service was agreed upon, and have no impression or doubt to the contrary. Directors are still prepared to carry out the arrangement made, and fairly adjust details of working. If arrangement for through service not carried out, Government, and not Company, must take the responsibility.
R. H. Leary,
Secretary Waimea Plains Railway Company.
