While, therefore there are features in the composition and the administration of the present Government: which I am far from approving, and will, if elected, strenuously seek to rectify, I am clearly of opinion that a true Liberal's place is in the ranks of the Liberal party, from within which he can alone hope to be of genuine service to the country, or of any real help in securing purity and economy in administration I shall therefore' seek, as I have already indicated, a marked improvement in the composition of the Ministry, and an attention to urgent social legislation of a progressive character. While giving a general support to whatever Liberal Government may he in power [unclear: which] upon the lines I have indicated, [unclear: I] reserve to myself the openly [unclear: stated] tention of voting against any [unclear: propose] which may in a clear manner [unclear: violated] great principles I have been [unclear: enunciating] or which I hold to be the [unclear: interested] the country to defend.
