Geese make good sitters and mothers. Eggs may also be set under hens, and the birds given to the goose to rear with her own. Nests should be on the ground. Moisten the eggs well. They take thirty days to hatch. Feed as directed for ducklings till fledged, and they will then feed them-selves. If intended to be fattened for market at four to six months old they must be fed right on, and may be shut up in a slightly darkened place and fed on meal and oats for a short time to finish off. Geese fatten well on stubble fields. Fed as above directed they should weigh about 101b. live weight. The quality of the flesh depends on the feeding.
